Hole In The Wall
04:14
|
|||
I got a saw, I cut a hole in the wall
I got a sword, and I raise it to the Lord
Oh I got a heart, sometimes it beats inside me
sometimes it tears me apart, oh I got a heart
I got a pain, runnin’ through my veins, I know it’s
there, but can’t find the words to share
But when I raise my voice to the clouds again, I hear
sound comin' out of them
I feel the pressure you see, of me coming down on me,
but all the love in the world couldn't sail this ship,
until you put your heart in it
I feel alone and I’m afraid of the phone, I wish for old times, the times before I was born
And I’ll tell you right now that’s why I play accordion, that’s why I play accordion
I got a clock, it ties time in knots, oh I’ve got time, after years of falling behind
To believe in myself and believe in you, pure gratitude
I walked through the hole that I sawed, millions of
people in shock and awe
People affected by violence and wars, people needing
to be loved, not torn
I feel the pressure you see, of me coming down on me,
but all the love in the world couldn't sail this ship,
until you put your heart in it

Cherokee Rose

My Grandma Alice Henry Fliss was a terror of the plains no doubt about it
A bandit, thief and harlot she was, committing crimes not requiring gloves
Driving along the northeastern highways with her rough and rowdy no good gang
They would rob gas stations and grocers in the night, For the Great Depression they was doin' it right
Tiny standing 5 feet tall, she’d crawl in a hole in the back wall
Creep right in and up to the til, and take all the cash at her own free will
Crawl right out back the way she came, split up the cash, drive off and do it again
Where their tears fell grew a Cherokee Rose, Rebels of the northeastern plains
Well sure they came from a rough childhood, don’t we all, don't we all?
Soon as she could bust outta home she did, hit the road at 16, she was just a kid
And fell in with that crowd of rebels, I reckon she thought she was destined for the devil
Then one night robbin' the roadhouse grocer, Alice was caught by a scornful onlooker
The grocers’ son had caught her red handed, they fell right in love, and went n’ got married!
Stanislav Mikhail Fliss was my grandpa and an alcoholic,
Born in Poland, raised in the Ukraine, war in those days kept the family moving
With Aunt Josephine at his side he came to the United States when he was just a little boy of 5
Great Grandpa Tommy was waiting there with his big tool shop and his big boss flair
Then another war came, and they had to shut down, so they bought a grocery store on the outskirts of town, and there’s where Stanley met sweet Alice, and they built a big ol' shackin’ palace, wild horses running through the plains, fields and fields of American grain
Where she died grew a Cherokee Rose, child of the American dust
Sure she came from a rough childhood, don’t we all, don't we all?

Pussy Driven Woman
03:10
|

She’s a pussy driven woman, and everywhere she goes, she’s thinking with temptation and the smell of man in her nose
She said she’s sorry that she kissed your boyfriend, but really she didn't know he was yours
Late last night when she blew into town, she dropped all her bags with ‘em her drawers fell down!
She was lovin’ life, feelin’ the breeze, screamin’ it ain’t a sin to be a pussy driven woman like me!
She loves all the lover men, really it ain’t no lie
She loves ‘em, respects ‘em, and bakes ‘em humble pie There’s many a good woman like her gone down in history, like Bessie Smith, Betty Page, Matahari and Memphis Minnie
Now I ain’t saying what is wrong or what is right, moral code is not my forte, I’m stayin’ up all night! And finding one sweet man with all the right moves, to hold by back and touch my neck and fight my loneliness/ To hold him down and mess around and tell him he’s the best!
Look boys she loves you, you know exactly how she feels, dancing and drinking, gambling and makin’ deals/ It’s a mighty special time in that room when the door’s closed, all the secrets in the world unknown
Since days of old, most folks say, to have too many lovers is not okay, but is yous tryin' to tell me that one man is enough for a rough, tough handful of gypsy accordion diva love?/ Well, honey, I feel sorry for that man

Backfields of Ponyland
03:05
|

Heavy dew at dawn in the arms of my love, in the backfields of Ponyland/ We been playing in the saloon for days, we got nothin but chocolate and left over booze/ Covered in dust, full of joy and passion, wearing cowboy boots, taking turns whipcrackin’/ Life’s damn easy cowgirl and boy like us in the saloon, the birthplace of our love
Just last night in this crazy saloon you took off your clothes while I squeezed a tune, you rodeo’d around and jumped of the stage, and came back looking like an old pink maid/With pigtails and a pink dress you’re my kind of pony, I’ll put a saddle on ya and ride until the morning/Then waltz back into the dusty saloon, smelling like yesterday and play another tune
Rosy cheeks of romance babe, you know it's love
When your baby smells like a raw garlic clove
Tender toes a twinlkin babe, you know its love
When your baby's boots fit just like a glove
Just last night in this crazy saloon, we danced to Ru Paul and howled at the moon/ Drank absinthe, whiskey and wine, rolling back the sands of time You’re beautiful my love like the golden sun, it’s a damn fine hoe down when you’re around
Lets waltz back in to the dusty saloon smelling like yesterday and play another tune
